Arsonists set fires that ruined 18 security cameras and destroyed a village sentry box, in Songkhla and Pattani provinces, police said on Monday.

The attacks began around midnight.

Burning tyres and tyre tubes destroyed six security cameras and a sentry box outside a village security office in Songkhla's Chana district.

In Pattani, about 1.20am, a fire was reported at a power pole at a T-junction outside Wat Moleenimit at Ban Chamao in tambon Na Ket, Khok Pho district.

A fire crew from the Na Ket tambon administration organisation extinguished the blaze, which was found to have destroyed two security cameras fixed on the post.

In Songkhla, about 6am, Thepha police were called to Ban Khlong Khut in tambon Pak Bang. Ten security cameras installed in the village had been torched.

Police were investigating.
