NAKHON RATCHASIMA: About 100 members of the "People Go" group on a protest march to Bangkok entered Sung Noen district on Wednesday, the second day of their 15-day walk to Government House.

Led by Jatupat Boonpattararaksa, known as Pai Dao Din, the marchers left downtown  Nakhon Ratchasima on Tuesday morning, beginning a planned 247.5 kilometre journey.

They are calling for the release of four leading members of the Ratsadon group, the People's Movement, being detained at Bangkok Remand Prison on charges including lese majeste in connection with the demonstrations on Sept 19-20 at Thammasat University and Sanam Luang.

The campaign also focuses on three demands of the People's Movement - the resignation of Prime Minister Prayut Chan-0-cha and his cabinet, an extraordinary session of parliament to amend the constitution, as proposed by the people, and the reform of the royal institution.

Among the marchers was Intira "Sai" Charoenpura, a popular actress and singer and staunch supporter of the movement.

On Tuesday night the marchers stopped in tambon Khok Kruat in Muang district.

On Wednesday, they began moving out of tambon Ban Kruat about 9am along the Mitrapap highway, heading toward Sung Noen district.

Mr Jatupat said that on the first day the marchers were met by cheering crowds along the highway, giving them water and food as well as moral support.

The group planned to walk 15 kilometres on Wednesday and stay overnight in Sung Noen district town, he said.
