Anti-government protesters unhappy with the state's handling of Covid-19 and its impact as well as the detention of some protest leaders rallied yesterday outside Government House and Bangkok Remand Prison.
The protesters marched in the afternoon from a location near Rajavinit Mathayom School to the Chamai Maruchet Bridge next to Government House, where they threw coloured talcum powder and sprayed water in the area in the spirit of Songkran and read out a statement.
The group would continue its anti-government rallies to oust Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha, call for a charter amendment and the revocation of the lese majeste law as well as the release of the protest leaders, according to the statement.
The group also called on the government to solve Covid-19 problems.
Around 5.30pm, a group of protesters gathered outside the prison, announcing 12-minute daily vigils there until the leaders are released.
Also, students living in Chulalongkorn University dorms have protested against Covid lockdown measures.
The university said 13 residents contracted Covid-19 and students who want to leave their dormitory must first test negative for the disease.
