Casino staff test positive for Covid

Sa Kaeo: Twenty-three Thais yesterday tested positive for Covid-19 on their return home from working at casinos in the Cambodian border town of Poipet.

About 100 Thais employed at casinos in Poipet walked across the Thai-Cambodian friendship bridge into Aranyaprathet district after their return was jointly arranged by Thai and Cambodian authorities.

Authorities set up a special health check station for the returnees, some of whom had no travel documents.

Once back on Thai soil, they and their bags were sprayed with disinfectant by public health officials in full protective overalls and their temperatures were taken.

Most returnees were confined in a local quarantine facility and Thanakrit Saisin, head of the district disease control office, said the 23 found to have been infected were taken either to hospitals or field hospitals depending on their condition.

The 23 were among 316 new infections reported in Sa Kaeo yesterday.
