Two injured by bomb, one loses leg

NARATHIWAT: A man lost a leg and a woman sustained facial injuries in a bomb explosion at a rubber plantation in Sungai Padi district on Monday morning.

Pol Lt Col Chakorn Chuchuay, of Sungai Padi police, said the attack occurred about 8am in a rubber plantation near Ban Khuan in tambon Sungai Padi.

Pipat Prabchompu, a territorial defence volunteer, and Jinda Prabchompu were in the plantation collecting rubber scraps. One of them stepped on a bomb buried in the ground and it detonated.

Mr Pipat lost one of his legs in the explosion while Ms Jinda received facial wounds. The two were rushed to Sungai Padi Hospital.

Police were investigating.
