Man caught for stabbing wife to death

NAKHON SI THAMMARAT: A man has been arrested for stabbing his common-law wife to death in front of the Cha-uat police station on Sunday morning.

Pol Capt Thien Banthip, the Cha-uat district police chief, said the incident occurred at about 9.30am.

The body of Wilai Kaewrat, 48, was left lying in front of the police station. She had been stabbed eight times in the chest and the neck.

The man, whose identitity was not immediately disclosed, fled after the attack. But he was caught shortly afterwards.

An investigation revealed the woman was a widow who had lived with the attacker as husband and wife.

They quarrelled in front of the police station, exchanging abuse. The man became angry and stabbed the woman with a sharp-pointed knife.

The motive for the crime was being investigated.
