The National Health Security Office (NHSO) yesterday started distributing the first batch of free antigen test kits (ATKs) for home use to groups considered at risk of contracting Covid-19.
A total of 1.16 million sets, out of 8.5 million, were set for distribution to the elderly, bed-ridden patients, people with disabilities, people living with seven chronic diseases who are not vaccinated and those showing flu-like symptoms.
At-risk groups can register to receive the ATKs via the government's Pao Tang e-wallet app and they can pick up the test kits at their nearest service unit or have them delivered.
They are required to fill out an assessment form first and can check out service units where they can pick up ATK sets at https://www.nhso.go.th/page/atk.
For those without smart phones, they can stop by service units for ATK sets but are required to present identification cards. The recipients will get two ATK kits each at a time.
Nanthakarn Suwanpidokkul, a specialist of the Government Pharmaceutical Organization (GPO), yesterday advised ATK test kit users to strictly follow the instructions to ensure accurate test results and properly store the products to maintain quality.
Deputy Bangkok governor Sopon Pisutthiwong said the ATKs will be distributed in Bangkok in crowded communities and markets in maximum control zones and those in communities where an outbreak takes place.
According to Pol Lt Gen Sopon, 410,000 sets will be handed out in markets, 20,000 to barbershops and beauty salons, 56,000 to massage and spa shops, 300,000 to teachers, 420,000 to communities and another 440,000 in the public transport sector.
The products are manufactured by Beijing Lepu Medical Technology in China and supplied by World Medical Alliance (Thailand) Co, which represents Ostland Capital Co.
