NHSO hands out 4,000 ATKs

More than 4,000 people have received free antigen test kits (ATKs) since their rollout began on Thursday, the National Health Security Office (NHSO) said.

Dr Jadej Thammatacharee, secretary-general of the NHSO, revealed that as of 11.05am yesterday, a total of 4,299 people received 8,598 ATKs -- two sets per person.

He said 4,295 people registered to receive the test kits via the Pao Tang e-wallet and four received them from public health volunteers.

Dr Jadej said the ATKs were distributed in Bangkok and the dark-red zone provinces of Phuket, Surat Thani, Nakhon Ratchasima, Sara Buri, Nonthaburi, Tak and Uttaradit.

The ATKs were part of the first batch of 1.167 million sets the NHSO started distributing on Thursday.

They would be handed out to the elderly, bed-ridden patients, people with disabilities, people living with chronic diseases who are not vaccinated and those showing flu-like symptoms.

Dr Jadej said the second batch of 2.155 million sets and the third batch of 1.4 million sets were under inspection by the Government Pharmaceutical Organization while the last batch of 3.778 million sets would be delivered and inspected on Wednesday.

He also urged the recipients to test for Covid-19 as soon as possible after only 249 reported their test results via the Pao Tang application.
