Drug suppression units on Wednesday seized assets worth about 59 million baht believed to have been acquired through the drugs trade, an official said.

Tanakrit Jit-aree-rat, secretary to Justice Minister Somsak Thepsuthin, said the seizures followed a drug suppression operation in the Northeast between July 12-Oct 27, 2020 that involved officials from the Office of Narcotic Control Board and provincial police.

The operation led to the arrests of four suspected members of a drug network on April 3, 2021, with warrants issued by the Bung Kan Court. The suspects comprised three Thai nationals -- Cherdchai Kongfu, Nuchanart Chaemchoy and Boon-um Tuentahan -- and a Lao woman, Duangchai Sengkhamyoung.

Using information from the suspects and court warrants, ONCB and police teams on Wednesday searched four spots in Sam Phran district, Nakhon Pathom province and seized numerous assets -- including cars, bank accounts and land title deeds worth about 15 million baht.

On the same day, other teams of officials searched a jewellery trading company in Mae Sot district, Tak, and a luxury condominium in Bangkok's Sathorn area and seized assets including land title deeds, cars, cash and jewelry worth about 43.85 million.

The total value of the assets seized on Wednesday totalled 58.85 million baht.

From an examination of financial transactions of the four suspects from 2012-2021, about 2.5 billion baht was found to have circulated in their bank accounts.
