Call to extend emergency decree

Call to extend emergency decree

The Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA)'s operation centre on Thursday decided to propose a further extension of the emergency decree to bring the current coronavirus outbreak under control.

The current state of emergency, which is due to expire on Sept 30, is expected to be extended to the end of November, sources say.

A CCSA's operation centre meeting, chaired by National Security Council secretary-general Gen Natthapol Nakpanich, who serves as director of the centre, backed the move, despite a recent drop in new infections and fall in Covid deaths. The centre's extension proposal will be presented for approval by the CCSA on Monday.
