Moderna jabs to arrive November

Moderna jabs to arrive November

Zuellig Pharma has confirmed it will deliver the first batch of the Moderna Covid-19 vaccine to Thailand in November, one month later than expected.

Despite the postponement, the vaccine importer said in its statement that 1.9 million doses will be delivered this year.

Of the total order, the remaining 6.8 million doses will arrive in the first quarter of 2022, it added.

As a result of the delayed handover, the jabs will not all be distributed on time to customers who have pre-ordered, said Dr Chalerm Hanpanich, president of the Private Hospitals Association.

However, they will not have to wait longer than seven months from when the association receives the doses, he said, adding that member hospitals will reach out to arrange new appointments.

"If they cannot wait for booster doses of the Moderna vaccine, they can get AstraZeneca booster doses and then Moderna [later]," he said.

Previously, the government said Moderna jabs would be delivered in December.
