There were 9,445 new Covid-19 cases and 84 more fatalities recorded during the previous 24 hours, the Public Health Ministry reported on Tuesday morning.
There were 9,244 cases in the general population and 201 among prison inmates.
The number of new cases fell from the 10,035 announced on Monday, when the country recorded 60 more deaths.
On Monday, 11,452 Covid-19 patients were discharged from hospitals after recovering from the coronavirus.
Since April 1, when the third wave of Covid-19 began, Thailand has treated 1,701,501 Covid-19 patients, 1,576,929 of whom have recovered to date.
Since the pandemic started early last year, there have been 1,730,364 Covid-19 cases, with 1,604,355 complete recoveries so far.
The death toll stood at 17,741 during the third wave and 17,835 since the beginning of the pandemic.
The latest 84 fatalities were aged from three months to 92 years. The baby did not have a underlying chronic illness, the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration said in its afternoon briefing.
Bangkok recorded 11 more deaths while a further 17 were reported in the adjacent provinces of Samut Prakan (12), Nonthaburi (2), Samut Sakhon (2) and Pathum Thani (1).
Other central plain provinces further from the capital recorded 14 more deaths – in Chon Buri (3), Chanthaburi (3), Ayutthaya (2), Suphan Buri (2), Rayong (2), Saraburi (1) and Samut Songkhram (1).
The Northeast had eight new fatalities – in Nakhon Ratchasima (2), Nong Bua Lam Phu (2), Udon Thani (1), Surin (1), Sakon Nakhon (1) and Maha Sarakham (1).
The South reported 22 more deaths – in Pattani (12), Yala (4), Nakhon Si Thammarat (3), Surat Thani (2) and Chumphon (1).
The North saw 12 new fatalities – in Tak (4), Phetchabun (2), Uttaradit (2), Chiang Mai (2), Phrae (1) and Mae Hong Son (1).
The 9,445 new cases included 9,231 local infections and 13 imported cases.
Of the local infections, 8,987 were confirmed at hospitals and 244 via mass testing.
Bangkok had 1,170 new cases, followed by 566 in Pattani, 511 in Chon Buri, 493 in Yala, 473 in Narathiwat, 467 in Songkhla, 425 in Samut Sakhon, 361 in Nakhon Si Thammarat and 315 in Rayong.
Greater Bangkok reported 1,978 new cases and 28 new deaths. Four southern border provinces had 1,999 new cases and 16 new fatalities, while 67 other provinces recorded 5,254 new cases and 40 new deaths.
The 13 imported cases were from Singapore (1 visitor to Phuket), Sweden (8), Finland (2), the United States (1) and Myanmar (1).
On Monday 108,174 people received Covid-19 treatment at hospitals, including 2,954 seriously ill patients and 660 dependent on ventilators.
Global Covid-19 cases rose by 315,153 in 24 hours to 239.03 million. The worldwide death toll went up by 4,657 to 4.87 million.
The United States had the most cases at 45.31 million, up 50,466, and the most deaths at 734,611, up 406.
Thailand ranked 24th with 1.73 million accumulated cases.
