More Covid-19 lockdowns in Nakhon Si

NAKHON SI THAMMARAT: Five more communities in Muang district were put under lockdown on Friday, as the rate of Covid-19 transmissions in this southern province remained high.

Muang municipality put up announcements closing off the following residential areas – Phetjarik (Soi Tachom), Salameechai (Soi Nai Yaem), Champa Khom (Soi Islam Phatthana), Talad Hua-it (Soi Mae Phayom 1) and the community in front of Kwaeng Kan Doen Thang.

This brought the total number of communities under lockdown to 23.

Screening checkpoints were operating in front of the communities, to prevent the spread of the virus. Municipal and health officials were conducting  mass Covid-19 testing of people in at-risk and nearby areas.

Provincial authorities on Friday reported two more Covid-related deaths and 369 new cases in 21 of the 23 districts of this southern province.

Muang district reported the highest number of new infections, 96 cases.
