The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) has warned people who vandalised the Red Line rail site at Nikhom Rodfai Km 11 in Chatuchak district that they will face legal action if they are caught.
The SRT is seeking cooperation from the public to act as ears and eyes for authorities after certain groups of people broke down fences and barriers at the site, said Ekkarat Sri-arayanphong, director of the agency’s public relations centre.
Such acts of vandalism were tantamount to destroying state property and those who did it would face both civil and criminal legal action, he said. Breaking the barriers and fences could also pose a danger to people in the area.
The SRT had earlier erected fences at the site and put up warning signs against trespassing. The barriers were intended to prevent outsiders from using the site as a shortcut or parking their vehicles there. The site is being used for electrical systems for the rail project.
The SRT has assigned officials to file a complaint with police to take action against those who vandalised the site, said Mr Ekkarat.
He urged people to alert the SRT if they had clues to the identity of the offenders via the 24-hour hotline 1690 around or via the @pr.railway Facebook page.
