GPO clears space for vaccine

The Government Pharmaceutical Organization (GPO) has cleared some space at Suvarnabhumi Airport to receive 560,000 Moderna vaccine doses from Zuellig Pharma on Monday.

In a post on social media, the Public Health Association said it has sought permission from the airport to secure space for the doses and block media outlets from covering their arrival.

The vaccine will be delivered by Lufthansa and received by GPO Managing Director Witoon Danwiboon and representatives of the association and Zuellig Pharma, it said.

The Public Health Association later clarified that it had decided to block media outlets from witnessing the vaccine's handover.

Many private hospitals have reportedly begun to send vaccination notifications to people who have preordered their jabs from them.

Vibhavadi Hospital said on social media that it will start distributing the Moderna vaccine to those who have preordered on Nov 8 and will contact people via SMS and e-mail in advance.

The hospital said it can vaccinate over 2,000 people per day, and 20,000 doses will initially be rolled out.

The association projected that 15,000 doses in other lots will be reserved for the hospital every week. However, any postponement in delivery will affect distribution, it said.
