Illegal job seekers, guide caught in Kanchanaburi

KANCHANABURI: A total of 154 job seekers from Myanmar, and a guide, were caught after crossing the border illegally into three districts of Kanchanaburi on Tuesday.

Border patrols rounded up groups of men and women at  Ban Phu Namron Moo 12 and Ban Mai Huai Namkhao villages in Muang district, Ban Thai Muang Moo 3 and Ban Bong Ti Lang Moo 1 villages in Sai Yok district and Ban Kong Mong Ta village in Sangkhla Buri district, official sources said.

All were illegal job seekers from Myanmar .

There were 104 men and 50 women. One male guide was also caught.

During questioning, they told officials they had travelled from Phayathonezu, Moulmein, Yangon, Bago and Dawei townships in Myanmar to get promised jobs in Samut Sakhon, Samut Songkhram, Chon Buri and Bangkok.

Some had paid 15,000-30,000 each to job brokers, others would pay on arrival.

All were handed over to Muang, Sai Yok and Sangkhla Buri police stations for legal proceedings.
