A hotel employee who was punch and kicked by a woman after pouring beer over her, leading to both of them being fined by police, has now been sacked from his job.
Swissotel Bangkok Ratchada announced on Wednesday it had terminated his employment.
The announcement said the man's public behaviour was inappropriate and out of line. The hotel did not support misconduct by its employees, be it in or outside work hours.
The man, who has not been identified, ran into trouble on Monday night when he poured beer over a woman after she refused to clink glasses with him at a food outlet in Bangkok's Huai Khwang area.
In response, the woman, Pareploy Saeaia, 24, repeatedly punched and kicked him on the roadside pavement. The man did not fight back.
The incident was recorded on camera and Ms Pareploy posted the video on her Facebook page. The video was widely shared on social media.
Ms Pareploy also filed a complaint with Huai Khwang police.
On Tuesday, the two reported to the police station - where they were eachfined 1,000 baht each for causing a public nuisance.
The man said he was drunk and had not intended to scorn the woman. He declared he would definitely give up alcohol. If he lost his job as a result, he would return to his home province.
Ms Pareploy is reported to be a Muay Thai trainer. She turned professional when she was still young and fought 50 bouts, for 40 wins and 10 losses. Since 2013, she had won several medals at the national level.
