National taekwondo coach Chatchai Choi, Olympic gold medallist Panipak "Tennis" Wongpattanakit and two other celebrities have been named honorary cultural ambassadors of South Korea in Thailand, the Korean Cultural Centre in Thailand said yesterday.
The two others named for their contribution to promoting South Korea's culture and tourism are Miss Thailand Universe 2005 Chananporn Rosjan and Thanachapan Buranacheewawilai, aka DJ Bookko.
The centre held an official naming ceremony in Bangkok as part of its exhibition called Hanbok in K-Series, which showcases various styles of hanbok, the Korean traditional costume. The show kicked off on Valentine's Day and will run until April 29.
The four cultural ambassadors were joined by other honorary figures including South Korean Ambassador to Thailand Moon Seoung-hyun on the catwalk for a hanbok fashion show on Monday to mark the start of the show, the centre said.
Mr Chatchai, better known as Coach Che, said although he was recently granted Thai nationality, he will continue to promote Thai and Korean culture.
Ms Panipak bagged Thailand's first gold medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics last summer.
