Ukrainian visitors demonstrate against Russian invasion

PHUKET: About 60 Ukrainian tourists rallied briefly on Bangla road in front to Patong police station in Kathu district on Wednesday in protest against the Russian invasion of their homeland.

The protest started at 11am, with the demonstrators holding up placards condemning the invasion and calling for Russian President Vladimir Putin to cease his attack. They also sang the Ukrainian national anthem.

Special branch and tourist police and local officials kept neyeonthe rally and  directed traffic. They warned the protesters to strictly comply with anti-Covid-19 measures such as wearing masks and staying well apart.

The Ukrainians ended their protest at 11.30am.
