Royal guards sacked over bad behaviour

The Racha Wallop Royal Guards Command has dismissed three guards for drinking alcohol and being aggressive on a public road, according to an announcement posted on its website.

One was identified as SM3 Niwet Ritthitham, who was dismissed for personally misusing a state vehicle, drunk driving and misbehaving towards other motorists on a public road.

His behaviour was caught on a video that showed him in uniform while driving along Baromrajchonnee Road in Bangkok on Friday.

The video clip went viral on social media.

The command's announcement said SM3 Niwet has been dismissed and blocked from his pension funds, while SM1 Kritsana Wongnil and SM3 Sanit Sarawan have been dismissed and blocked from their pension funds for drinking with SM3 Niwet while they were on duty.

The three will also be stripped of their ranks.
