US Army Pacific commander visits Thai army chief

Gen Charles Flynn, the commanding general of the United States Army Pacific, met Thai army commander-in-chief Gen Narongphan Jitkaewthae to discuss security cooperation on Wednesday.

Gen Narongphan received him at Royal Thai Army headquarters and thanked Gen Flynn for accepting the army's invitation for his first official visit. The two men had an online discussion last July.

Gen Narongphan and Gen Flynn discussed security cooperation and the expansion of bilateral military training.

The Thai army chief expressed gratitude to the US for its good care and support of Thai soldiers who had visited the US for training.

On Thursday Gen Flynn is scheduled to attend a ceremony concluding the Hanuman Guardian 2022 military exercise of Thai and American soldiers in Phatthana Nikhom district of Lop Buri.
