Tak Bai attack 'linked to known criminals'

The army has blamed an attack on a marine police station in Narathiwat on criminals who wanted payback for crackdowns on drugs and human trafficking by law enforcement agents.

Lt Gen Kriangkrai Srirak, chief of the 4th Army, inspected the scene in Tak Bai district yesterday.

"The incident was related to the many moves to enforce the law and suppress illicit drugs," he said, adding there was evidence linking the attack to criminals in the region.

Three people were injured in the attack on Wednesday night.
