Chiang Rai police have arrested six Chinese men suspected of filming and broadcasting pornography at a homestay in the province, police said yesterday.
The Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau (CCIB), Chiang Rai Provincial Police, Chiang Rai Immigration Office and Investigation Division Provincial Police Region 2 obtained a warrant to apprehend the men, aged 24–47, who are also accused of luring five women from Laos to film pornography.
According to the CCIB, a victim's relative contacted officials and informed them that the women were tricked into making pornography.
On Thursday, law enforcement agents raided the homestay in the Doi Hang subdistrict to arrest the suspects, it said.
According to police, all five of the women were under 20 years old.
They said the Chinese nationals either participated in or filmed sex acts with the victims. Their films are posted on the Zhu Shou mobile app, police said.
All six suspects are charged with multiple pornography and immigration charges, police said.
They said the victims were lured into working with the Chinese men, promised 1,700 baht per day for a few sexual acts. The victims were provided food and accommodation, but required to fulfil a three-month contract, or else they would not be paid, police said. Any of the women wishing to return to Laos before the contract ended would have needed to compensate their so-called employers, police said.
