Prawit backs plan for 12 old cities

Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwon yesterday endorsed a plan covering construction regulations and heritage conservation in 12 old cities.

The plan was drawn up by the Committee for the Conservation and Development of Rattanakosin Island and Old Cities, of which Gen Prawit is the chairman.

It proposed the government step up conservation efforts and continue subsidising moves to improve tourism.

The 12 cities are Kamphaeng Phet, Phetchaburi, Takua Pa in Phangnga, Mae Hong Son, Kanchanaburi, Yala, Narathiwat, Phitsanulok, Roi Et, Uthai Thani, Trang and Chachoengsao.

Gen Prawit told affiliated organisations to proceed with the action plan to conserve cultural heritage, boost local tourism and improve people's quality of life.
