One killed, two hurt in canal boats collision

SAMUT PRAKAN: A man was killed and a husband and his wife both injured when two long-tail boats collided on a canal in Bang Bo district on Sunday afternoon.

The crash occurred about 4pm in Khlong Kalaya canal at Moo 2 village in tambon Bang Bo.

Police and rescuers of the Ruam Katanyu Foundation wre sent to the scene. 

Pol Capt Jakthong Kammapol, a Bang Bo investigator, said witnesses told them the two boats were travelling in opposite directions and collided at a bend in the canal.

Prasit Nadam, 32, the operator of one boat, was killed.

Saichol Yunuch, 50, and his wife Nusara Wongpongsawiwat, 52, were travelling in the other boat, were both injured. They were admitted to Bang Bo Hospital.

Police were investigating.
