Royal Canadian Navy frigate HMCS Winnipeg will conduct a port visit in Chuk Samet Port in Chon Buri's Sattahip district on Oct 7-11.
The frigate's visit is part of Canada's defence engagements in the Indo-Pacific as part of Operation Projection, which also includes HMCS Vancouver and a CP-140 Aurora long-range patrol aircraft being deployed to Northeast Asia.
During its four-month deployment, HMCS Winnipeg has been participating in bilateral and multinational training exercises and engaging with regional militaries and other international security partners to promote regional security and stability.
After departing Thailand, HMCS Winnipeg will remain in the Indo-Pacific region, working with other allies and partners, before returning to Canada in December.
The frigate's namesake is the city of Winnipeg, capital of the Canadian province of Manitoba. The HMCS Winnipeg has 250 sailors, including 30 female crew on board, according to the Canadian embassy. Canada and Thailand celebrated 60 years of diplomatic relations in 2021.
