Woman arrested, 3.6m meth pills seized in Ayutthaya

A woman was arrested and 3.6 million methamphetamine pills worth 180 million baht seized from her pickup truck in Wang Noi district of Ayutthaya province, police said on Wednesday.

The smuggled drugs were on their way from Chiang Rai to Nonthaburi.

Pol Lt Gen Jiraphat Phumjit, commissioner of the Provincial Police Region 1, and Ayutthaya governor Niwat Rungsakhon jointly announced the arrest, describing the woman as a major drug suspect. Her name was not released.

Pol Lt Gen Jiraphat  said she was caught while driving her pickup truck along Phahol Yothin Road in Wang Noi district on Sunday afternoon.

During questioning, she admitted to having been paid 50,000-70,000 baht each time she delivered drugs from the North to customers in surrounding areas of Bangkok.
