3.2m tourists in October

About 3.2 million foreign tourists visited Thailand by land, sea and air in October, according to figures compiled by the Transport Ministry.

Transport Minister Saksayam Chidchob said the numbers represented a 100% jump from foreign arrival figures reported in September.

Between January and September this year, around 630,000 tourists landed in the country each month, he noted.

According to the Transport Ministry's figures, 3.1 million foreign tourists arrived in the country by air -- about 75% or about 2.2 million of whom came through Suvarnabhumi airport, 14% landed at Don Mueang airport, while about 11% came through other airports.

About 2% of foreign travellers arrived in the country by car this month, while less than 1% arrived by boat and train, he said.
