Authorities seized 2.5 kilogrammes of smoked bat meat smuggled in by a passenger on a flight from Kunming, China.
It was found in some luggage, along with other cured meat products including bacon and ham, that triggered a sniffer dog during a random inspection, said Livestock Development Department chief Somchuan Ratanamangkalanon.
They were seized for examination. Bat meat may contain the Nipah virus, which can cause fatal inflammation of the brain, while pork poses an African swine fever risk, he added.
