Indonesian found dead on cruise ship

PHUKET: An Indonesian tourist died while on board a cruise ship which arrived from Singapore early on Saturday.

Pol Lt Col Teerasak Boonsawaeng, a Patong police investigator, said a tour coordinator reported about 9am that a tourist had died on the board the cruise ship Spectrum of the Seas which was moored at Patong bay.

Police and a doctor from Patong Hospital went to investigate.

Dr Natcha Tanpongcharoen, from Patong Hospital, examined the body of the man, identified as Muhammad Isnaen, 45. It is believed he died from acute heart failure.

The ship arrived in Phuket about 1am on Saturday.

His wife said she found him lying still with his face down on the bed when she woke shortly after 2am.

She became suspicious and called the ship's doctor. The doctor moved her husband to the medical room and performed CPR on him, to no avail. He was pronounced dead at 2.27am.

Police reported the death to the Indonesian embassy in Thailand.
