Eight people were arrested after police and health authorities raided eight illegal beauty clinics in four provinces.

The clinics were in Bangkok, Chon Buri, Samut Songkhram, and Pathum Thani.

Police said yesterday that the raids, between Nov 23 and 29, came after calls were made to the Consumer Protection Police Division's (CPPD) Sub-division 4 from the Food and Drug Administration and the Department of Health Service Support to investigate the eight locations.

Central Investigation Bureau commissioner Pol Lt Gen Jirabhop Bhuridej, who oversees the CPPD, told reporters yesterday that officers arrested eight people allegedly involved in the beauty clinics.

They also confiscated medical supplies and equipment, plus more than 600 medical records.

Four clinics were located in Bangkok. One clinic in Soi Ramintra 5 in Bang Khen district had allegedly been operated by a 36-year-old woman, Srisunee Panyawat, for about six years, he said.

In Huai Khwang district, a clinic in Bang Kapi sub-district had allegedly been operated by a 39-year-old woman, identified only as Ms Napaphat, for about five years.

Another individual, identified by police as Ms Sasiphat, had allegedly provided illegal beauty treatment at a building also in Huai Khwang district for a year.

Another one in Samsen Nok sub-district, had been run by a 23-year-old man, called Mr Jirat, for about a year.

Yet another clinic was located in tambon Klong Nung in Klong Luang district of Pathum Thani. It had allegedly been operated by a 54-year-old man, identified only as Mr Korakrot, he said.

For the others, a 24-year-old woman, identified only as Ms Thanatsorn, had allegedly been providing beauty treatment at home in Samut Songkhram's Muang district for a year.

A 48-year-old, identified only as Ms Boonpha, was arrested at a beauty salon in Chon Buri's Bang Lamung district.

She allegedly learnt injection methods via Youtube and tried it on her face first, and bought medications from an online channel. Another person, identified only as Ms Aungkhana, was arrested at an eyelash beauty clinic in Chon Buri's Muang district, where she allegedly provided illegal treatment for about three months.
