The Interior Ministry yesterday announced the release of a new book titled 36th Anniversary of Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya, which highlights her contributions to the local weaving industry.

The book is a tribute to the princess' work in promoting Thai fabric through the "Pha Thai Sai Hai Sanuk" (Wearing Thai Fabric with Fun) project. The princess was born on Jan 8, 1987, making her 36 years old.
Suttipong Juljarern, permanent secretary for interior, said the project was created to increase the popularity of Thai fabrics, strengthen supply chains and enhance the local economy.
"The book showcases the princess' efforts to develop and preserve Thailand's cultural heritage as well as her contributions towards promoting the well-being of the Thais," he said.
He said the princess has dedicated herself to lightening the burden of His Majesty the King, who has set a clear vision for preserving the royal aspirations of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great and Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother, who initiated various projects, including the one promoting Thai textiles.
"All of the photos in the book were personally selected by the princess, who has a natural flair for design," said Thanarat Yhanasedtakarn, an expert on Thai fabrics, noting their "rare publication".
