Two eateries make top 50 list

Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha thanked the nation's food and beverage industry after two Thai restaurants were included among the World's 50 Best Restaurants list this year.

This year's list, compiled by UK-based William Reed Business Media, included two restaurants in Bangkok: Le Du (No 15), owned by rising star chef Thitid "Ton" Tassanakajohn, and Gaggan Anand (No 17), run by Kolkata-born chef Gaggan Anand. Central Restaurant, in Peru's capital Lima, was named World's Best Restaurant.

Government spokesman Anucha Burapachaisri, said four Thai restaurants also made it to the Top 100: Sorn (No 56), Sühring (No 72), Nusara (No 74) and Potong (No 88). "The PM admires the determination of all Thai restaurateurs, as Thai food is a way to project the country's soft power and has received a positive response," he said.
