Police said the body parts were found at a dump in Moo 4 of Koh Phangan municipality district by trash collectors at 12.30pm. The body parts, which consisted of a sawed-off pelvis and intestines, were found inside a fertiliser sack. Due to the size of the pelvis, authorities believe the victim was a foreign male.

Investigators said the victim died at least 24 hours before the body parts were found.

They said trash collectors had picked up the sack from another location on the island without realising what was inside. Police are now trying to retrace their movements to determine where the sack was originally dumped.
