City Hall yesterday encouraged people with disabilities to register online via the Line app for the Bangkok For All initiative to gain easier access to their social benefits.
Phanumas Sukamporn, advisor to Bangkok governor Chadchart Sittipunt, said during the opening of Bangkok's Disabled Social Wellness Expo at the Youth Centre yesterday that the initiative provides easy access to public aid and welfare for those with disabilities.
He said Bangkok For All was launched via the Line app on Dec 19, 2022, and is aimed at helping the disabled build their community while providing them with the necessary social benefits and welfare.
"City Hall had a target of having at least 10,000 disabled people register; however, only 2,000 have registered so far," Mr Phanumas said.
He said it is linked with databases that helped provide information about services, including the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration's One Stop Service (BMA OSS) and job recruitment services from the Redemptorist Foundation for People with Disabilities.
He said it also offers insurance services from the Office of the Insurance Commission, a Grab-hailing taxi app and online shopping apps that cater to their needs.
Mr Phanumas said City Hall would also assign its staff and volunteers to help people with disabilities who do not own smartphones or cannot register for the service via the Line account so they can register with the Bangkok For All initiative.
City Hall also plans to inform caretakers to help those unregistered add an official account to the friend list on the Line app.
Mr Phanumas said that the more users who register with the initiative via the official Line account will assist the City Hall's database, and through it, it will boost efforts to aid people with disabilities.
He added that the information gathered through the initiative's Line account aids City Hall's sustainable management efforts for the city.
