Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul on Friday met with the country's provincial governors to discuss the ministry's key missions.

These include expressing loyalty to the highest institution, anti-corruption measures, and supporting Pheu Thai's 10,000-baht digital wallet policy.

The meeting was held at the Centara Grand at Central Plaza Lat Phrao Bangkok. Attendees included the interior minister's deputies, Songsak Thongsri and Chada Thaiset, as well as the governors of the 77 provinces and the ministry's executive officials.

Mr Anutin urged the governors to support the digital wallet policy, which people can use to buy products within a 4-kilometre radius of their registered home address.

As a result, he suggested the governors craft policies to encourage people to create and produce local goods in a bid to boost the local economy.

"The most important thing is that we must not allow any corrupt acts. People who receive the 10,000-baht digital wallet should get the full benefits," he said.

He warned the authorities to be wary of deceptive moves, such as middlemen who may offer to purchase 10,000 baht of digital money in exchange for 3,000 baht of fiat.

"We need to make sure people [aged 16 years and above] receive the full amount," said Mr Anutin.

He told the governors that if any of them needs his help or the assistance of his deputies, they are welcome to contact him at any time.

"I am a down-to-earth person, so when I visit your province, there is no need to bring me to fancy restaurants or have a large group of people to welcome me. Just keep things simple," he said.

Mr Anutin also urged every governor to work with the utmost effort and integrity.

He also stressed the importance of keeping any reshuffles of officials fully transparent and encouraged all civil servants to be sceptical if they are approached by anyone claiming they can assist with facilitating a better promotion.

Mr Anutin said he neither respects nor practices favouritism, adding that all officials should be promoted based on their hard work and achievements.

He said if any governor or their subordinates come across corrupt acts, they should file a complaint or even send a video clip of said act to him directly.

During the meeting, Mr Anutin said state officials at the ministry must also catch up on new technologies to benefit the people.
