Six police officers have been dismissed from the police force over their alleged involvement in the shooting at a dinner party at the house of a kamnan (tambon chief) in Nakhon Pathom on Wednesday night.

In that incident, Pol Maj Siwakorn Saibua, an officer at highway police station 1 under Highway Police Sub-division 2, was killed and Pol Lt Col Wasin Pandee, deputy commander of Highway Police Sub-division 2, was injured.

Four of the six officers sacked are Pol Lt Prasarn Rodpol, Pol Capt Narongsak Taeng-ampai, Pol Capt Natthapol Nakkorn and Pol S/Lt Sansern Srisawat, all from highway police station 1.

The other two sacked officers are Pol Maj Kiatisak Somsuk, an investigator at Krathum Baen police station in Samut Sakhon province and Pol Lt Nimit Salidkul, a traffic police officer at Muang police station in Nakhon Pathom.

The six officers are accused of destroying evidence of the crime and helping the suspected gunman and the kamnan, Praween Chankhlai, to escape. The suspected gunman, Thananchai Manmak, was later killed in an exchange of fire with police in Kanchanaburi province while Mr Praween surrendered to police.

The dismissal orders are effective from Sept 9. All of them are facing a serious disciplinary investigation.

A Corrections Department official has also been sacked and is facing an investigation for allegedly involvement in the shooting incident.
