Natapanu Nopakun, who presented press briefings in English for the now-dissolved Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA), died on Monday, according to the Foreign Affairs Ministry.
MFA spokeswoman Kanchana Patarachoke said Natapanu, 49, who was deputy spokesman for the ministry and deputy chief of the Department of Information, had received treatment for health issues for some time.
Taweesilp Visanuyo-thin, former spokesman for the CCSA, said the news came as a shock while describing how devoted the official was to his job.
Natapanu was a senior diplomat with vast experience in bilateral and multilateral diplomacy.
