PM eyes regional meeting

The government is extending an invitation to Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam to discuss -- at a new ministerial meeting Thailand will host for these nation's tourism ministers -- ways to jointly boost regional tourism.

While Tourism and Sports Minister Sudawan Wangsupakitkosol was assigned to invite her Cambodian, Lao and Vietnamese counterparts to the planned meeting, Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin plans to on Dec 26 ask the Malaysian leader if Kuala Lumpur will also be interested in joining, the PM said yesterday.

Mr Srettha did not say when it will be held.

The Ministry of Tourism and Sports has been assigned to step up cooperation with various bodies to improve the convenience and safety of all international visitors, said Mr Srettha. The Office of Insurance Commission will arrange life insurance for them all and the Ministry of Public Health will arrange health insurance.
