Policeman killed in Pattani

A policeman was shot dead on Sunday night by militants in Pattani's Yarang district.

Pol Col Uthai Thipsepha, chief of Ban Sarong police station, said  Pol Cpl Ruangrit Saita, 30, of a special operation unit, was leaving his house in tambon Khao Matum for duty when about eight militants in black opened fire at him with war weapons.

He was hit many times in the head and body.

The killers fled into the night.
