CHON BURI - An elderly German man has been found dead inside a condo unit on Jomtien beach in Pattaya area, with a deep slash on his neck, and police suspect foul play.
Police said that the man was naked when his body was found in his apartment of the 28th floor of a condominium building on the beach in tambon Nong Prue of Bang Lamung district.
The condo unit was locked and the door had to be opened with a spare key. The man's body was lying on the floor near the door. There was a deep cut on the left side of his lower neck, down to his chest. It was estimated he had been dead for 3-4 days. There was no sign of struggle inside the room.
From initial inquiries, the deceased, aged 66, had frequent guests. Shortly before he is believed to have died he was drinking with six Thai women inside the condo. The police were looking for his known acquaintances.
Police suspect the motive was robbery. The dead man's wallet and his notebook computer were missing, but cash in various currencies was still in his safe.
The man's name was being withheld.
