Oros gang leader arrested

PRACHUAP KHIRI KHAN – The leader and his close aide of the notorious Oros drug gang were arrested Hua Hin on Thursday.

Gang leader Patchawat Boonmard, alias Tee Oros, and Worapong Plubplalek, or Pik Oros, were busted in their vehicle parked near a market in the resort town, said Pol Maj Gen Thanet Sunthorasook, commander of the Prachuap Khiri Khan police force.

He said the two criminals had fled to Hua Hin because they had several outstanding arrest warrants in Bangkok. They had been in the area for about a week, hiding in a rented house, he added.

Police officers also found three nimetazepam pills, also known as erimine five, and several illegal drug-related tools.

The two told the police that the equipment was used to make crystal methamphetamine, or yaa ice, according to Pol Maj Gen Thanet. They said they brought three bottles of liquid crystal meth with them to Hua Hin but had used it all up.

Other gang members were arrested in the Thon Buri area during a raid on a house in Nonthaburi's Bang Bua Thong district on Jan 21.

About 100 speed pills, 19 grammes of crystal methamphetamine, a 9mm pistol and 33 rounds of ammunition were seized.

The gang were targeted by police after members posted a video clip on the internet of some of them taking drugs.
