A wanted insurgent and his 6-year-old son have been shot dead in Yala, police said on Friday.
Pol Col Chartchai Chanasit said the man and his son were attacked at a rubber plantation in Yala province.
He said Muktar Ali-mama, 31, was a member of an insurgent group and the subject of several arrest warrants, including for murder.
Muktar died on the spot while the boy died on the way to the hospital.
Villagers found the bodies on Thursday evening after the man and his son had gone to work on the plantation.
