CSD chief, senior crime buster removed

The chief of the Crime Suppression Division, Pol Maj Gen Chaithat Boonkham, and Pol Col Akkharawut Limrat, chief of the CSD’s Sub-Division 1, have been abruptly removed from office and transferred to the Royal Thai Police Office.

The abrupt transfer of the two senior crime busters came less than a week after two top officers at the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) were removed from their posts.

National police chief Pol Gen Somyot Poompanmoung signed an order on Friday, transferring Pol Maj Gen Chaithat and Pol Col Akkharawut to the RTPO’s operations centre. The two officers no longer hold any positions at the CSD.

The transfer, effective immediately, required the two senior CSD officers to report to the centre by 10am on Friday.

Earlier,  the national police chief signed an order on Nov 11 to transfer  Pol Lt Gen Pongpat Chayapan, chief of the CIB, and his deputy, Pol Maj Gen Kowit Wongrungruang, to the RTPO.

Pol Lt Gen Prawut Thawonsiri, a deputy national police chief, was assigned to serve as acting CIB chief.

Pol Lt Gen Prawut , in his capacity as acting CIB chief, is likely to appoint deputy CSD commander Pol Col Akkharadet Pimolsri to be acting CSD chief, and Pol Col Jirapob Puridet, chief of the Tourist Police Divison (TPD) Sub-Division 5, as acting chief of CSD Sub-Division 1.

Pol Col Phumin  Poompanmoung, chief of the Marine Police Divison’s Sub-Division 8, will be made acting chief of  TPD Sub-Division 5, Matichon Online reported.
