Revenue collection ahead of plan

The government’s revenue collection in the first two months of 2015 fiscal year exceeded projections by 2% with 335 billion baht added to the coffers, according to Fiscal Policy Office.

Kritsada Jinavijarana, director-general of the Fiscal Policy Office, said collections in October and November were 6.49 billion baht higher than the target, but still 2.6% lower than the same period in FY14.

Collected taxes higher than targeted came from tobacco by 2.67 billion baht, personal income by 2.11 billion baht and value added tax by 2.02 billion baht.

The contribution from state-run agencies was also higher than projected by 13.7 billion baht, while other agencies added 1.39 billion baht more than the target.

Mr Kritsada said the better-than-hoped-for revenue collection was mainly from the state enterprises. The office viewed that the continuous expansion of domestic consumption helped boost the revenue collection during the two-month period.
