Ping-pong bomb on Ratchadamri

Police arrested three people after a ping-pong bomb went off in front of the Big C superstore on Ratchadamri Road on Saturday evening. No injuries were reported.

Lumphini police were alerted by a report on Jor Sor 100 traffic radio about the explosion at about 7.30pm in front of the complex opposite the CentralWorld shopping centre.

Pol Col Pornchai Chalordet, superintendent of Lumphini police station, confirmed the explosion to Matichon Online. He said a brawl involving young people was the cause and ruled out any political link.

Police arrested three people suspected of involvement as they were fleeing the scene. They were caught near the Grand Hyatt Erawan Bangkok Hotel and taken to the police station for interrogation, he added.
