An Iraqi traveller was arrested on Saturday at Suvarnabhumi airport on charges of holding a counterfeit passport and illegally entering the country.
Police apprehended Saif Anbagi, 22, at an immigration counter at the airport as he was preparing to leave for Doha on a Qatar Airways flight QR831 after the authorities found that he held a fake Iraqi passport.
Further checks found that he had entered Thailand illegally as an immigration stamp on his passport from the Khuan Don checkpoint district in Satun province was a fake, said Immigration Bureau police at the airport.
He was charged with holding a fake passport and illegally entering the country. Mr Anbagi has denied all the charges.
