A CAT scan in May found His Majesty the King had elevated levels of cerebrospinal fluid, but it is now at close to normal levels, according to the 14th statement released by the Royal Household Bureau Monday.

On May 31, the King returned to Siriraj Hospital from Klai Kangwon Palace in Prachuap Khiri Khan's Hua Hin district to undergo an intensive medical check-up.

The resulting scan found the fluid in his brain and spine had increased, and his medical team proceeded to gradually drain the fluid, after which the levels declined steadily. A CAT scan on Aug 5 confirmed the levels were close to normal.

During his stay at the hospital, the King, 87, intermittently had a high body temperature, phlegm, rapid breathing and an elevated heart rate, which the medical team believed was caused by earlier lung inflammation.

His Majesty was given medication to help dissipate the phlegm and he was put on an oxygen machine. The latest test results show no inflammation in his lungs. An electrocardiography test found his heart rate is regular again. The team confirmed his breathing and blood pressure are also back to normal.
