The Min Buri Provincial Court on Wednesday approved an arrest warrant for the Turkish husband of Wanna Suansan, the only Thai suspect in the Erawan and Sathorn pier bombings.
Emrah Davutoglu was charged with conspiracy to possess unauthorised explosive materials. He is the eighth suspect for which warrants have been issued in connection with the Aug 17 Ratchaprasong attack and the failed pier bombing the following day.
National police spokesman Prawut Thavornsiri said Mr Davutoglu is believed to have been "part of a network that provided accommodation" to those connected with the bombing.
Police allege Ms Wanna, also known by her Muslim name, Maisaroh, rented a room at the three-storey Maimuna Garden Home apartment where police on Sunday found urea-based fertilizer, flash powder and other items that can be used to construct improvised explosive devices of the same scale used in the shrine attack that left 20 dead and 130 injured.
National police chief Pol Gen Somyot Poompunmuang yesterday said Ms Wanna, who is in Turkey, had contacted police and would come to Thailand to defend her innocence.
