The Erawan shrine bomb suspects will be moved to a special prison at the 11th Military Circle barracks in Bangkok, to facilitate legal procedures in the case.

Justice Minister Paiboon Koomchaya said on Friday the Corrections Department had been asked by security authorities to use the 11th Military Circle, on Rama 5 Road, as a special prison for the two men arrested for the Erawan shrine bombing on Aug 17, which killed 20 people and injured another 130.

The suspects, Adem Karadag and Yusufu Mieraili, would be transferred to the custody of the military circle from Min Buri prison, where they were currently being held.

He said the transfer would benefit the investigation, and it was allowed under the Corrections Act.

“The Department of Corrections will have to assign officers to work at the military circle, as they do at  other prisons.

"The suspects will be transferred to the new special prison as soon as it is ready,” Gen Paiboon said.
